PCHi2025 Interview: Bien Bio Breaks Through the Technical Barriers of Biological Fermentation and Creates Irreplaceability in the "Intra-industry competition"

Although the market is highly competitive, as long as the right direction is chosen, opportunities still exist. Peng Tianzhi said that currently, the fermented products of Bien Bio are mainly used in high-end skin care products such as lotions, essences and face creams. In the future, it also plans to expand into the hair care field to meet the all-round and multi-level market demands.

For the third time at the PCHi exhibition, Guangdong Bien Biotechnology Co., Ltd. showcased its latest research and development achievements, demonstrating its breakthrough progress in the field of bio-fermentation technology.

Compared with the previous two times, this exhibition is of great significance because the raw materials of Bien Biology have completed the entire process from laboratory research and development to product launch, successfully launching three epoch-making biological fermentation products. At booth 5C12 of PCHi 2025 of Bien Bio, Peng Tianzhi, the general manager of Bien Bio, was interviewed by the magazine "happi China International Personal Care Product Manufacturers" and gave an in-depth introduction to the raw material products on display.

Peng Tianzhi, the general manager of Bien Biotech

The first major product brought by Bien Bio this time is the world's first Tremella fuciformis polysaccharide produced through fermentation technology. In the traditional market, tremella fuciformis polysaccharides are mainly prepared through plant extraction methods. However, Bien Biology has cultivated superior fermentation strains to fully release the efficacy of tremella fuciformis polysaccharides. The uronic acid and total sugar content of this raw material is as high as 39.05%, far exceeding the 20.22% of the traditional plant extract process. This breakthrough means that the activity of the tremella fuciformis polysaccharides has been enhanced, and at the same time, its skin feel has been optimized. Peng Tianzhi said that the fermented Tremella fuciformis polysaccharides launched by Bien Biology this time have more advantages than traditional plant extract products in terms of moisturizing, soothing and other functional indicators.

The breakthrough in technology is more prominent in the raw material that Bien Biotech is focusing on promoting this time - BEN-063 Bien Women's Distillers' Grains (also known as Whitening Women's Distillers' grains). Through the test comparison of tyrosinase inhibition effect, the whitening effect of Bien women's Distiller's lees can replace the currently popular chemical synthetic whitening agents on the market, such as vitamin C ethyl ether and 4-butylresorcinol. Meanwhile, Bien women's sake lees is rich in gamaminobutyric acid, which is four times the content of Japanese women's sake lees. It is also rich in 18 kinds of free amino acids and the filtrate of rice fermentation products. Therefore, its whitening, anti-wrinkle and firming effects are more prominent. According to Peng Tianzhi, compared with the current chemical synthetic whitening agents on the market, Bien Women's Wine lees is pure natural and non-irritating, and is also suitable for sensitive skin.

The third product is the lysis product of the fermentation of Saccharomyces cerevisiae independently developed by Bien Biotech. This ingredient is widely used in high-end skin care brands. The data of our Saccharomyces cerevisiae fermentation product, the lytic product, is more outstanding in the regulation of skin microecological balance. Peng Tianzhi said that its lactic acid and acetic acid content is 2 to 3 times higher than that of the existing French imported products on the market, and at the same time, it presents a unique velvet texture in terms of skin feel. This raw material is rich in a variety of active ingredients, including small molecule polypeptides, amino acids and vitamins, providing comprehensive repair and nourishment for the skin and further enhancing its market competitiveness. Peng Tianzhi added.

Facing the ESG wave, Bien Biotech has chosen to endow sustainability into its technological DNA. The raw materials for our tremella fuciformis polysaccharides do not rely on forest resources. The strains can complete a "miracle of life" in a sealed tank. Peng Tianzhi said that the application of fermentation technology not only enhances the stability of the product but also conforms to the concept of sustainable development, reducing the reliance on forest resources.

To make a product truly take root and generate value, a significant amount of time and resources need to be invested. Peng Tianzhi frankly admitted that from laboratory research and development to pilot-scale optimization and then to mass production, each stage was full of challenges. The process from 0 to 1 in the laboratory stage is the most challenging, taking approximately 6 to 12 months. However, it is precisely this persistence that has enabled the products of Bien Biotech to truly possess market competitiveness.
